The Oldest Marketing Method- Word of Mouth
There are so many ways that you can market yourself, and your product globally. For a long time, and continuing today, perhaps the best way to market anything is to use word of mouth.
This marketing method has been used for a long time – simply because it is one of the easiest ways to get things accomplished. The initial situation that someone talked about a company was probably several years ago – the first time that anyone had anything that they wanted to sell or promote. The procedure is easy – one person telling another person what they want them to know – and that other person repeating it to someone else they know – and so on.
When word of mouth works well, it works in a very natural way. For a store in a town, for instance, this would work easily – as one customer would be happy with their service, and would tell their friend that they found a great store. That friend will become a customer, and tell all of their friends. You can do the same for your business, whether you are online or offline, because talking about your business is something that is easy to do.
Word of mouth is also something that is free. It doesn’t cost you anything in advertising to be talked about – and it is going get your business humming if what they are saying about you is positive in nature. Therefore, this marketing method is something that you can use to your advantage in many different situations.
Be aware, there are always many things to consider when you are encouraging people to talk about your company. Something that you want to remember is that although word of mouth is free and is going to be good for you, it can also be bad. If you make a customer angry, or have something go wrong with a customer’s products, that customer will talk about you, same as they would under normal circumstances, except that they are going to unkind or negative. The negative comments will be passed from one person to another, in the same way that positive ones would be transferred. Take some stock in it, you should be very careful with what you are doing and how those things will be working. You really don’t want to have any negativity floating around about you, so be careful to monitor what people are saying about you. If you always treat your customers well, they’ll be nothing but good things for them to say.
